Skin Clarity for Every Complexion

Traditional laser treatments work by heating tissue — a method that can pose risk for medium-to-deeper skin tones. Pico Laser operates in trillionths of a second (picoseconds), shattering pigment particles with precision acoustic energy rather than prolonged heat. The result: exceptional outcomes with significantly less downtime and a dramatically lower risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH).

Ultrafast Pulses Picosecond delivery shatters pigment with minimal thermal damage to surrounding skin.

Minimal Downtime Most clients experience mild redness that resolves within hours — no extended recovery needed.
Stimulates Collagen Laser Focus Array (LFA) mode creates controlled micro-injury zones that trigger natural collagen remodeling.
Versatile Wavelengths Multiple wavelength settings allow customization for different skin concerns and depths of pigmentation.

Safe Across the Full Fitzpatrick Scale

The Fitzpatrick scale classifies skin into six types based on melanin content and UV response. Many laser technologies are limited to Types I–III. Pico Laser’s photoacoustic mechanism makes it a safe, effective option for all six types — a critical distinction for our diverse Kansas City community.

We believe everyone deserves access to advanced aesthetic treatments. Pico Laser allows us to serve clients with darker complexions who have long been excluded from traditional laser care — safely and without compromise.

What Pico Laser Addresses

Our providers will conduct a thorough skin assessment and customize your treatment plan. Pico Laser is clinically indicated for a wide range of pigment-based and textural concerns:

Finally — A Real Solution for Melasma

Melasma is one of the most challenging pigment conditions to treat, especially in clients with medium-to-dark complexions. It’s triggered by hormonal changes, sun exposure, and heat — and many conventional treatments can actually worsen it in darker skin types.

Pico Laser’s low-heat, high-precision approach directly addresses the melanin deposits responsible for melasma without the thermal risk that causes paradoxical darkening. Combined with Luminare’s custom skin care protocols, our providers create a comprehensive melasma management plan — not just a one-time treatment.

Note box: Recommended protocol: A series of 3–6 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart, paired with medical-grade sun protection and targeted homecare. Results are cumulative; many clients see meaningful improvement as early as session 2.

Your Pico Laser Experience at Luminare

Every treatment begins with a thorough skin consultation. Your provider will assess your Fitzpatrick type, identify the precise concern, and map a customized approach before any laser is applied.

FAQ

How many sessions will I need?

It depends on your concern. Sun spots may resolve in 1–2 sessions, while melasma and deeper pigmentation typically require 3–6 sessions. Your provider will outline a realistic timeline during your consultation.

Is Pico Laser safe for darker skin tones?

Yes — this is one of Pico Laser’s key advantages. Because it uses photoacoustic energy rather than heat, it is safe and effective across all Fitzpatrick skin types, including Types IV, V, and VI.

Is there downtime?

Downtime is minimal. Most clients experience mild redness for a few hours after treatment. Pigmented spots may temporarily darken before flaking off over 5–10 days — this is a normal part of the healing process.

Can I combine Pico Laser with other Luminare treatments?

In many cases, yes. Pico Laser pairs well with medical-grade skincare, chemical peels, and RF microneedling as part of a comprehensive skin health plan. Your provider will advise on the best treatment sequence.
