KYBELLA — A Non-surgical Treatment for Double Chin

Kybella is the revolutionary procedure for double chin. But Kybella isn’t just a one-trick pony because it has other benefits too! It actually helps reduce fat under the chin, which can help a patient look more youthful and even boost one’s self-esteem.

Dig deeper and learn more about Kybella.

What is Kybella?

Kybella is another nonsurgical injection treatment that reduces excess fat beneath the chin, and it utilizes a synthetic form of deoxycholic acid. A single treatment takes 15 to 20 minutes to perform. You have nothing to worry about Kybella because it was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) since 2015. If you don’t want to go under the knife like liposuction, Kybella is the best way to eliminate some fats stored under your chin.

Your healthcare provider will mark the injection sites and may apply a numbing agent or ice pack to minimize any discomfort or pain. Typically, 20 to 50 injections are to be used under the chin. The acid gradually kills fatty cells that are metabolized by your body over the coming weeks.

You can get multiple treatments for optimal results as long as it’s prescribe by your healthcare provider. You may have six Kybella sessions with at least one month rest in between. Each treatment has an average cost of $1,200 to $1,800.

What are the benefits?

Kybella is a gentle way to eliminate excess fats and the best alternative to chin liposuction. You can expect visible results after having a series of sessions like our patients here at Luminare Aesthetics & Wellness. The treatment destroys the fat cells providing you permanent results without injuring your skin and other tissues.

Getting Kybella leads you to a smoother and more youthful-looking chin and neck.

What results can you expect?

With Kybella, you can achieve a slimmer chin profile that emphasizes your jawline without getting yourself in a bloody surgery.

What should you do before and after treatment?

Consult a healthcare provider who will assess if you can have the treatment. Be honest with your medical history, including the cosmetic procedures (if any) done within the chin, face and neck. Once you have a schedule, it is important to properly wash your face before the appointment to avoid infection. As much as possible, do not take advil and ibuprofen to prevent bruising after the treatment.

After the Kybella injection, you may experience bruising, inflammation, pain, redness, swelling and temporary numbness on the treated area. The side effects may last for a few days. Your healthcare provider may recommend cold compress to alleviate the swelling and redness. You should also avoid sun exposure and use any skin-care products that contain Retin-A, glycolic acid or alpha hydroxy acids.

Who is the treatment for?

If you are 18 years old or older and have moderate to severe fat beneath the chin, then Kybella is for you! In case you are planning to undergo facial surgery or if you have trouble swallowing, give yourself ample time to prepare for Kybella. Pregnant women and people with an existing medical condition can’t have Kybella.
